Board of Trustees

The Board of Trustees of Presbyterian Support Northern (PSN) has overall responsibility for, and is charged with, the governance of the organisation, guided by a  comprehensive range of Board policies and procedures (a set of which are also in place for management).

The Board's documented responsibilities are to:

  • Establish and plan the future direction of PSN, guided by its Vision, Values and Critical Success Factors.
  • Monitor the performance of PSN against its stated Critical Success Factors.
  • Employ and regularly evaluate the Chief Executive, and set delegated authorities.
  • Approve the Annual Plan and Budget.
  • Ensure all aspects of PSN endeavour are undertaken in a proper, legal and ethical manner.
  • Liaise with communities; promote the activities and services of PSN and enlist the provision of financial and other resources for the furtherance of PSN.
  • Report annually to constituents through Annual General Meetings.

Individually and collegially the trustees work in close partnership with our Chief Executive to ensure the Board’s objectives and responsibilities are achieved and that Board level policies are implemented.

Our Constitution currently requires there be 10 trustees - seven representing constituent presbyteries (or equivalent) and Te Aka Puaho (the Maori Synod) and three independents appointed by the Board itself. At least eight of the trustees are required to be members of a Presbyterian parish or a co-operating ministry in which the Presbyterian Church is engaged.

The current board (most of whom are pictured below) is:
